Q: What is the difference between adulthood and childhood? When do you move from one to the other? Are you looking forward to becoming an adult?

A: Childhood is when everything in the world is new to you and you are still learning.Childhood is when you are dependent on your parents because you are naive and vulnerable and need someone to give you the basic essentials of life (food, shelter, clothing, protection from a difficult world). They assume these basic essentials as given and don't worry about how these essentials are attained. Children are pretty unrealistic.


Adulthood is when you bear the full weight of responsibility on your shoulders. You are fully self-reliant when is comes to getting food and money. You make all decisions for yourself; you are forced to think about how is will effect you in the long-term. You are obligated to do things for yourself because no one is going to make you or help you do it. Being successful or failing is based on your decisions now because you know how the world is.

Adulthood has nothing to do with age and everything about your mental maturity and ability to handle things independently.
I'm mostly looking forward to becoming an adult. I can do most things for myself and make smart choices already. I'm still ask my parents for money though because I'm trying to save mine.
