Hold Caulfied is a Jerk
I think part of the reason Holden feels lonely and angry all of the time is because he isolates himself and criticizes everyone. Even though he's smart, Holden is negative and cusses too much.The only people he cares about are his dead brother Allie and Stradlater's date, Jane. I think if Holden got help from a shrink about Allie's death he'd be better off and happier. Part of the reason he's mad at the world is because someone he thought was innocent died and that 'phony' people get to live.

I think that Holden really should see a shrink. Or maybe not a shrink maybe Jane because he seems to have a strong connection with her and is able to talk to her. He should talk to her about his problems because he has a lot. But i also think that we are giving him a crutch because he lost his brother that shouldn't the reason he becomes a jerk to everyone. He needs to learn how to deal with his grief better or put it into something more constructive.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this. He is partially so lonely because he puts himself in this situation, for example he could have went to the game with everyone else, but chose to stay home. Also, i think he is a jerk as well, and who wants to hang out with a jerk? why do you think Holden didnt want to talk to a psychiatrist?
